Exam already around the corner. But we're not ready for it. How should we prepare ourselve for it? Here some tips that might be able to help you prepare for exams
✔ Motivate yourself
Without that sense of motivation and interest, your course work may come to seem like drudgery, a boring and meaningless chore. When that is the case, you may well have difficulty remembering what you read in your texts and hear in your lectures, regardless of what study methods you employ. Strive to find areas of interest and a personal sense of purpose in all your courses. You must take responsibility for developing your own interest in what you are studying.Try to motivate yourself with what will come after the test. Find your own motivation to make yourself ready to take the exam
✔ Take notes of your study materials
Re-reading and memorizing all the materials from the start seems impossible. Your brain might not be able to absorb it all. Then how should we do it? Take notes. Try to summarize or take some importants note about the material. The process of making summary notes can help you to retain more information. By writing the information thoughtfully instead of just seeing it, you can develop a greater perception of the material. To take this further, activate your other senses: you can recite the summary notes aloud, and even record and listen to them.
✔Create a study plan with your friends
If taking some notes or you can’t motivate yourself for the exams try to study together with your friend or find a study buddy. Friends can help motivate one to another, sharing the ideas off one another, also can help you understand about the materials. Friends can teach you what you don’t understand when the lecturer explain it in the class. Maybe you can be more understand and picture the point of the materials with your friend explanation. The very act of talking about the materials will clarify your thinking/knowledge and will reveal any gaps or weaknesses that require your attention.
✔ Maintain your health
Don't forget to take care of yourself during the exam preparation. It is very important to be in good mental and physical condition for the exam. A small amount of stress can get you psyched, but too much mental or physical strain can be detrimental to your performance. The last thing you want to do is to sabotage your efforts by ignoring your well-being.After you finish studying, take some time to relax. Don't stay up too late if you can help it and try to get a good night's sleep. Eat before the exam to build your energy, but avoid heavy foods that can make you drowsy.
Keep a positive attitude about the exam. Think of it as a way to demonstrate your knowledge and not as some imposing challenge. Go to the exam focused and relaxed - you have done the work, now it's time to reap the rewards
✔ Visualize the whole point
When you try to picture the whole point of the study materials, to help your brain absorb bigger chunks of information, another trick you could try is to break the information down and make up a story linking together each piece of information. For example, if you need to memorise a complicated chemical formula, you could name the molecules with human names beginning with the same letter (Carol = Chlorine, for example) and make up a little story in which the actions of the characters mirror those of the molecules in the formula. This can be a remarkably effective method of learning trickier, drier information, as it helps to bring it to life a bit and gives it a more human touch that makes it easier to relate to.
✔ Mnemonics
You’ll be pleased to hear that the concept of a mnemonic is a lot simpler than its confusing spelling. It involves translating information into an alternative form that you’re more easily able to remember. One way of doing this is by taking the first letters of a string of information you want to remember and then using them to create a more memorable phrase that you find easier to recall than the original information. For example, some people remember the points of the compass with the mnemonic ‘Never Eat Shredded Wheat’ (North East South West). The first letters of the information can also make up a word in their own right, as in the case of the colours of the rainbow, the mnemonic of which is the name ‘Roy G. Biv’ (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet).
✔ Try to beat exam stress
There are few things that you can do to reduce your exam stress:
- Meditation is one of the most effective ways to take a break and see your stress from a different perspective. Practicing meditation is another way to maintain focus while improving both mental and physical health to reduce pre-exam stress.
- Many students feel as if they should spend their entire time before exams with their books open and their pen poised for action. However, research has proven that exercising such as taking a walk can boost your memory and brain power.
- Sometimes you just need to talk to someone, other times you need to shout it from the rooftop or scream from the top of your lungs. Figure out what you’re feeling and then let it out. Speaking to a family member or friend can highlight the bigger picture for you and empower you to rise above the exam stress.
- Believe it or not this is 100% true. Eating dark chocolate which is over 70% cocoa fights the stress hormone cortisol and has an overall relaxing effect on the body. Plus chocolate releases endorphins which act as a natural stress fighter.
GOOD LUCK WITH THE EXAM GUYS 😉😃
